Sharing Water » Yanko Design

I had never thought of this aspect for saving water. What if you take two things that need water and combine them to use one source/supply. Take an animal and a plant. Trying to think of two things in the kitchen to combine now… hmmmm

Moss mat

Moss Carpet by Nguyen La Chanh » Yanko Design

This living bath mat thrives on the humidity in the bathroom and doesn’t mind having a little drink when you get out of the shower.

A Garden For My Umbrella

I’ve seen this Design before, however this is just as nice and I’m not sure who did it first. I like both (go back in my blog to find th other). I really love bringing the outdoors in with the grass and who likes leaving a puddle at the front door from your umbrella.

Rain water drinking fountain

Coway Skywater – Public Water Filtering System by Ji-youn Kim » Yanko Design

So I’m not sure why this water fountain looks like it does, but its a pretty nice concept. The ‘Ring’ collects rain water over head and sends it to underground water storage tanks. When someone activates the flexible hose, the water travels from the tanks and out comes fresh rain water.

I thought this was a great outcome for a micro event that uses water. The water that is caught by the D-Catcher may seem minimal, however similarly to my project- every little drop counts. Maybe if everyone addressed every micro  event that uses water we could start seeing change. This Design is right where I’m sitting, and I’m so glad that other people are doing similar projects to me.

Exhibition 2 Directed by Taku Satoh“water”

Our hope is that the exhibition will not just be a display of new design, but rather will be an experiment in ways to “expressing water through design.”

Wine bottle plant nannies

Wine bottle plant nannies

Drink wine? Like plants? Forget to water? The plant nannies are simple terracotta hollow stakes that hold an upside down wine bottle. After finishing your wine, simply fill the bottle with water and place upside down in the plant nannie. This isn’t exactly a ground breaking design, however I like the use of terracotta in this process. Due to its porosity, terracotta releases water slowly at an acceptable rate for the plant. Its always nice to see natural materials at their best. On an added bonus, this design also recycles the bottles.
