plant dish drainer

So the design world has discovered that draining dishes into a plant of some description is pretty cool. Agreed. I am pretty amazed when I come across another concept that appraoches this idea and does it with a different twist. This idea is more basic that the others I have found, I enjoy its simplicity. It’s so great to find people adressing the small instances or ‘micro events’ of water wastage in the design comunity. It reminds me that what I am doing is relevant and current.

Candles that save water by Oon

Google Image Result for http://normblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/rocking-glass-candle.jpg

This candle helps to save water. Not literally infront of your eyes. fact: 1 litre of oil pollutes 1,000,000 litres of water per day. oon has come up with a concept for a household device that converts used/waste oil from the home into candles. The candles can  be made in various shapes, sizes and scents. nice.

smart sink

Clever Sink Design Saves Water and Time when Doing the Dishes : TreeHugger

Much like the investigations I competed into Therbligs and Frank and Lillian Gilbreth, this sink looks at streamlining the process of washing dishes. In doing so, the user is encouraged to use the sink in a practical way and requires less water to complete the process. It would also be nice to see the water that drains of the dishes to be re-used in some way like many other sink conepts I have found.

Sharing Water » Yanko Design

I had never thought of this aspect for saving water. What if you take two things that need water and combine them to use one source/supply. Take an animal and a plant. Trying to think of two things in the kitchen to combine now… hmmmm

A Garden For My Umbrella

I’ve seen this Design before, however this is just as nice and I’m not sure who did it first. I like both (go back in my blog to find th other). I really love bringing the outdoors in with the grass and who likes leaving a puddle at the front door from your umbrella.

Rain water drinking fountain

Coway Skywater – Public Water Filtering System by Ji-youn Kim » Yanko Design

So I’m not sure why this water fountain looks like it does, but its a pretty nice concept. The ‘Ring’ collects rain water over head and sends it to underground water storage tanks. When someone activates the flexible hose, the water travels from the tanks and out comes fresh rain water.
